The Sheffield Korte Team LLC joint venture successfully delivered a design-build project encompassing a 42,000-square-foot, 116-person dormitory at Altus Air Force Base in Oklahoma. This new facility represents a significant enhancement to the quality of life for residents, offering updated amenities that were not currently available in existing dormitories on base.
Adhering to the innovative “Dorms for Airmen” concept, the layout features suite-style accommodations to optimize comfort and functionality. Shared common areas are thoughtfully furnished with couches, a television, dining space, laundry facilities, and a kitchenette, fostering a sense of community among residents.
Constructed with insulated concrete forms, the dormitory boasts superior energy efficiency and heightened storm resistance compared to traditional construction methods. The emphasis on innovative design underscores the meticulous consideration given to meeting the needs of Airmen throughout the project.
