The Korte Company transformed an existing shell space on the third floor of the Medical Office Building at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Highland, Illinois, into a state-of-the-art Orthopedic Suite and Lab. The new suite features eight orthopedic exam rooms designed to support patient follow-ups, evaluations, consultations, and related support services.
Additionally, the project includes a standalone outpatient blood draw and lab to serve the adjacent multi-specialty clinic. Other spaces created in the build-out include three administrative offices, a conference room, an employee break room, and a supply storage area.
Situated in a fully operational medical office building, the construction team prioritized minimizing disruptions to the hospital’s ongoing activities. The Korte team worked closely with tenants on adjacent and lower floors to ensure their operations remained unaffected.
Weekly construction updates were coordinated with the owner and architect, and any necessary service outages were scheduled in collaboration with HSHS and the building owner.
Temporary walls and exhaust systems were employed to maintain negative air pressure in the construction area, while early morning and weekend work was conducted as needed to reduce interference with patient care activities.
