The Behavioral Health Center of St. Clair County-East St. Louis is an important part of the community. And its construction won a 2009 Merit award from the Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA).
This two-story facility provides residential space and houses all outpatient services and administration. The front half of the building holds administrative offices, rehabilitation group rooms, outpatient counseling, children’s playrooms, a secure outdoor playground area, conference rooms and multifunctional training rooms.
The rear residential wing includes a first-floor, 20-bed “ARTS” residential unit section and a second-floor, 26-bed “SMARTS” residential unit section. We built nearby recreation rooms and a space for visitors that includes an activity area and a TV lounge. There’s a full commercial kitchen that serves all departments from a central location with quick elevator access to each wing.
We also built a kitchen-serviced dock area and an outdoor patio area for employees. A separate garage facility accommodates parking for 108 cars, including handicap-accessible spaces and parking for ten 15-passenger vans.
