At The Korte Company, we’re well-versed in retail construction and design and have delivered more than 2,000 projects throughout the U.S., including many retail projects. This is one of many retail stores we’ve built.
Since 1958, we’ve built for some of the biggest companies in the U.S. And for decades, we’ve designed and built crucial distribution centers for Walgreens, formally called The Walgreen Company.
The tenant improvement for The Walgreen Co. retail store was situated at the corner of 22nd and M Street in downtown Washington D.C. Formerly a restaurant/club establishment, the 11,373-square-foot project required a substantial amount of demolition before renovation could begin. Material, brickwork, electric, plumbing and HVAC ductwork was removed in the initial phases of the project.
The urban construction site was in a high-traffic area and space was extremely confined. Subsequently, a solid logistics plan capable of removing, delivering and staging construction material was a key component in the successful delivery of this project. Pedestrian and traffic control strategies were also important factors that played into the overall phased construction schedule.
The result was a flagship retail facility for the Walgreen Co, delivered on time and on budget in downtown Washington D.C.
