Carlinville Area Hospital was outgrowing its current space and required a contemporary medical office building to allow them to continue to meet the healthcare needs of their community.
The Korte team worked with the Carlinville Area Hospital and its team to create a free-standing Medical Office Building on the hospital’s campus with easy access for patients and prominent placement for key physician services.
The 28,730-square-foot single-story building houses primary and specialty care clinics along with outpatient rehab services. The outpatient rehab services include a physical therapy gym and an inground therapy pool that improves motion and flexibility during the recovery process.
The building consists of a masonry veneered metal stud wall system over a structural steel frame to provide an efficient building envelope. Vertical ribbon windows and an open glass lobby create a contemporary appeal. The building entrance is anchored by a modern cantilevered canopy to provide shelter for patients being dropped off at the facility. The new MOB is connected back to the existing hospital by a connector link to allow patients to flow between the MOB and the hospital.
The facility is served by a variable air volume HVAC system with hot water reheat to meet the demands of the healthcare spaces. Dedicated dehumidification accommodates the demands of the interior therapy pool within the building. An efficient mix of fluorescent and LED lighting fixtures address the variable lighting demands throughout the building.
The MOB will allow Carlinville Area Hospital much-needed space to continue serving the community’s healthcare needs long into the future.
