“This is a milestone for Bond County Senior Center and for the seniors and recipients of services of the Senior Center throughout the county,” Anna Oestreich, director of the Senior Center, told WGEL. “We are excited to have the groundbreaking for the Frank & Susan Watson Community Building addition.
“This is a project that has been very strongly supported by the community in terms of, not just moral support, but financial support. We really are grateful to Representatives Stephens and Cavaletto for their support for the grant that reimbursed the Senior Center for expenses incurred in purchasing the existing building and we’re deeply grateful to the capital campaign committee for helping us raise the funds and continue to raise a little bit more.
“We hope that services will emanate from this facility for a very long time and benefit the community.”
Work is scheduled to begin on the addition today and the project is expected to be complete in October. The capital campaign for the new addition continues with a fundraising goal of another $150,000 to be raised.
