The Korte Company was awarded the design and construction of a new one-story 85,510-square-foot maintenance training facility at Eglin Air Force Base in November 2019 and is scheduled for completion in June 2021. The new facility is located adjacent to the existing Academic Training Center (ATC).
The new facility contains academic classrooms, virtual trainers, various aircraft mockups as well as administrative/operations areas. The center supports training requirements for three U.S. services including the Air Force, Navy and Marines. It will also support up to eight international partners.
Additionally, there are the typical building support functions including mechanical, electrical, fire protection and communications equipment rooms. The project also includes underground utilities, paving (including access roads, storm drainage, exterior and site lighting), site improvements, landscaping, underground comm infrastructure to connect the new facility, and Anti-Terrorism and Force Protection measures.
