The Korte Company worked hand in hand with St. Clare of Assisi and BCDM Architects to deliver a 9,400-square-foot expansion to their existing church. The much-needed expansion was designed to help better serve their growing parish and included new construction as well as a reconfiguration of existing space to accommodate the need for increased capacity.
In 2007, The Korte Company constructed the original 28,678-square-foot church for the parish, a concrete panel Tilt-Up construction project which received multiple awards from the Concrete Council, Con/Steel and the Tilt-Up Concrete Association.
The expansion project included two newly constructed wings that connected to the existing facility comprising of a 3,130-square-foot fellowship hall expansion and 6,270-square-foot office addition. The innovative design allowed the church building, parish offices and new meeting rooms to remain centralized and under a single roof.
To facilitate the expansion, selective demolition was required that included the careful removal of several existing concrete Tilt-Up panels. Exteriors of the newly constructed areas used identical masonry veneers to replicate the look of the existing church.
