The Korte Company, a Design-Build construction company headquartered in Highland, Illinois, has recently been informed that the Ralph and Betty Engelstad Cancer Research Building has received a Silver Certification through the USGBC (U.S. Green Building Council). The research facility is part of the The Nevada Cancer Institute (NVCI) campus, a non-profit organization in Las Vegas dedicated to cancer research, treatment and education. It is the official cancer institute for the state of Nevada and is committed to attain the National Cancer Institute’s designation as a comprehensive cancer center.
The 184,000 square foot facility opened in September 2009 and features 24 state-of-the art research labs enabling NVCI to pursue its research mission in a high-tech environment. The Korte Company, an integrated design-build general contractor, provided architectural design, interior design and complete construction. The project was delivered one month ahead of schedule and $15 million below the Guaranteed Maximum Price.
According to Greg Korte, President of The Korte Company’s Las Vegas Division, “Working with NVCI to provide a state-of-the-art, LEED Silver-Certified facility, has been one of our most gratifying accomplishments to date.”
