The Korte Company will start design and construction on a 74,500-square-foot construction and modernization project at the Naval Air Base at Whidbey Island, Washington. The 43,700-square-foot hangar modernization will include upgrades to building codes and standards and will accommodate six EA-18G aircraft and three EA-18G aircraft squadrons when complete.
A 30,000-square-foot, two-story addition will adjoin the existing hangar. Together, the modernization and addition will include the installation of new maintenance shop spaces, maintenance and building support spaces as well as squadron tactics and administration uses on the second floor.
In addition, the facility will be designed to achieve LEED Silver Certification per USGBC requirements.
