With a symbolic snip of a really big pair of scissors, construction at the Vandenberg Child Development Center is complete. As detailed on the US Army Corps of Engineers (Los Angeles District) website, the 23,390-square-foot facility consolidates the center’s operations into a single building while almost doubling the space of the previous facilities.
In building and designing the facility, our team wanted to focus on rooms, furnishings and outdoor play areas appropriate for infants, pre-toddlers, toddlers and pre-school children. As quoted in the article from the US Corps of Engineers, military mom Sgt. Francesca Fleming really liked what she saw and remarked on the smart design.
“Safety! I like that the playgrounds are right outside the door, they have eyes on the children,” said Fleming. “And art, my daughter loves art, that’s something I know she’s going to go straight to and express herself more freely here.”
The facility is USGBC Certified Silver and will be open for business May 21.
