The Korte Company was awarded the Design-Build contract for a new 188,000-square-foot manufacturing facility for The Knapheide Manufacturing Co. located in Quincy, Illinois.
Knapheide’s new line of military-grade aluminum truck bodies will be manufactured in the new facility. The new plant is located directly south of the company’s existing 480,000-square-foot manufacturing facility that was originally constructed by The Korte Company in 1995.
The scope of work for this project consisted of a new 188,000-square-foot building manufacturing facility, including a 10,500-square-foot office area. The single-story building was constructed using concrete Tilt-Up wall panels and steel framing at the manufacturing portion and metal stud walls, steel frame, and curtain wall system and glazing at the office area.
The building’s sprinkler system is all-encompassing, including a foam suppression system at the hazardous material storage area. Other items of work included mechanical, electrical, plumbing, low-voltage, compressed air lines, and connections for the owner-provided and installed equipment.
Site work included grading, pavement, site lighting, flag pole, monument signage, landscaping, personal vehicle parking, trailer storage parking, storm water basins and utility connections.
