In this military Design-Build project, we repaired and reconfigured the existing security forces and fire department building P-25. And we constructed a new building addition.
Initial stages included the demolition and removal of the existing interior materials. And we constructed interior areas to allow for the new addition. Our project team replaced the existing building’s equipment and electrical and mechanical systems with new systems to serve the addition. Throughout the facility, we added fire suppression and alarm systems as well as an ADA-accessible, limited-use elevator.
For the addition, we demolished and removed the existing, one-story apparatus to allow the construction of a two-story training and administrative area. The first floor includes a multi-use classroom, a Combat Arms training range, and a weapons vault and pallet storage area. The second floor connects both sides of the existing second-floor areas. As a result, personnel can easily access all floors of the completed buildings.
On the second floor, we delivered an administrative area with a naturally lit clerestory roof and open plan capability. The project team removed existing electrical and mechanical systems and related equipment in their entirety and replaced them with distribution systems from the new building systems. Finally, we extended the fire suppression and alarm systems to service the new areas of the addition.
