The Korte Company was awarded a 42,166-square-foot two-story addition to the existing Medical Office Building ‘B’, located on the Alton Memorial Hospital campus in Alton, Illinois. The adjacent construction currently occupies an existing parking lot, which was removed.
The new facility complements and maintains the existing design vocabulary of the existing buildings on the Alton campus. Building materials included tilt-up concrete panels with commentary brick insets, a metal-cladding main entry canopy, as well as windows and frames.
The first-floor build features suites for OBGYN, Pediatrics and blood draw. The second floor is occupied by Southern Illinois Healthcare Foundation.
An architectural tower feature visually defines the entryway while the canopy provides an area for signage. The design format closely follows the existing window size and pattern. The main window at the entry stair allows for natural lighting and also allows views of the adjacent lake.
Renovated sidewalks connect to the existing hospital and allow seamless pedestrian flow between buildings while enjoying views of the lake.
