B. Barnard Birger Hall, named after a longtime supporter of Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville, was officially opened in 2001.
The 11,700-square-foot two-story office building — designed to house SIUE Development, University Relations, Alumni Services and the SIUE Foundation — was just one of many projects The Korte Company delivered for the university.
The building’s first floor features a spacious lobby donated by Rita Hardy and the Fowler Family reception lounge. The design also incorporates a large event room, with capacity for 80 guests and dining services.
Administrative space is located on the upper levels while additional meeting space includes separate board rooms, the Chuck and Betty Lou Schmidt Conference Room and the Birger Board Room.
The dining and banquet area open to the Tosovsky Terrace, an exterior gathering space that features a patio as well as an extensive water feature with connected ponds and waterfalls.
