Since we were founded in 1958, we’ve made it an emphasis to Build Smart. For many years, we’ve set the standard for healthcare design and construction. And we pioneered the Design-Build construction method 20 years before it became industry standard. This medical and dental clinic design and construction project is a prime example of smart, efficient construction.
The Mosier Troop Medical and Dental Clinic in Fort Lee, Virginia includes a lobby, waiting room, laboratories, radiology, treatment rooms, immunization room, patient shower and dressing areas, pharmacy, kitchen, provider offices, and administrative areas.
It has a 172-vehicle asphalt parking lot and gated access drive. We designed an ambulatory vehicle station with access to the rear clinic entrance.
We carefully selected all materials and colors to give an eye-catching feel to exterior flow — beginning at the main entry, from the outside, into the lobby and waiting area. Patterns and colored flooring materials direct entrants around the building. Smart interior signage provides for overall “wayfinding” and meets life safety requirements for soldiers using the facility.
Private offices at the perimeter wall have windows that provide natural lighting. And natural light from high, clerestory windows enhances the interior/exterior theme. Building systems include telecommunications, local area network, public address, nurse call, electronic queuing, intrusion detection, fire alarm/mass notification, cathodic and lightning protection.
Our team made expansion a key element in the site design, building the capability for 20% future expansion directly into the building. This project meets Anti-Terrorism and Force Protection requirements and LEED Silver certification from U.S. Green Building Council.
