When Designs For Health, a manufacturer of superior quality nutritional products since 1989, needed to expand their operations, The Korte Company was there to help.
Designs For Health had purchased an existing building, located at 151 Gallagher Crest Road in Henderson, Nevada, with an aggressive plan to renovate the 42,000-square-foot facility, complete with new processing, storage and office space areas.
In a collaborative Design-Build delivery, The Korte Company, with the help of JVC Architects, was able to deliver an efficient, phased construction schedule for the renovations and new construction. The construction team worked closely with the client, visiting their existing facility and similar facilities, to phase construction around their existing distribution and fulfillment center. This allowed productivity within the building to continue without disruption. Additional precautions were required due to the presence of combustible materials within the facility.
The extensive transformation included the renovation of 8,144 square feet of office space and the addition of a 10,188-square-foot mezzanine level above the new 11,700 square feet of manufacturing and processing area.
The manufacturing and processing area was added on the main level to provide additional space for the gel and powder lines. Racking systems were also included as part of the scope of work for the storage of raw materials and finish-packaged product for distribution. In total, the project included 32,000 square feet of improvements that benefited their manufacturing and resulted in a much-enhanced production rate.
