Herhey’s West Bar Line expansion marks The Korte Company’s 20th year working with America’s iconic chocolatier. The 36,472-square-foot project included a new four-dock shipping area and a two-story precast processing/packaging addition.
To ensure the facility remained fully operational, careful planning was required to develop and initiate a construction plan that would eliminate and/or minimize any disruptions during all phases of construction.
The new expansion features a new breakroom, office areas and conference room, as well as additions to the existing restrooms. Design included coordinating all building systems, process piping and owner-furnished equipment.
Interior improvements included a new elevator and new finishes, doors, and partitions throughout the space. The addition of insulated metal wall panels and the installation of mechanical and electrical systems were also included in the scope of work.
The sitework included dock paving, pavement improvements and a new bike path.
