The Korte Company delivered a 40,422-square-foot Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (RDT&E) facility for the Defense Information System Agency (DISA)/Joint Interoperability Test Command (JITC) at Fort Huachuca, Arizona.
Designed as an electronics lab to support DISA/JITC requirements, the focus was on security, energy efficiency, sustainability, and a conducive work environment. The facility, adjacent to JITC Building 57305, comprises multiple labs, server rooms, DISA net kiosk, lobby, and break room, adhering to Secure facility (COSA standards) and including SCIF area for secure servers.
The project encompassed underground utilities, paving, storm drainage, site lighting, landscaping, and AT/FP measures. Programmed spaces feature classified and unclassified test labs, server rooms, a COMSEC room, and ICD 705-compliant spaces. Raised access flooring facilitates air distribution, with heavier load areas for equipment. The single-story masonry structure includes a flat roof. It adheres to energy performance standards using concrete block construction, insulation and steel framing.
Materials and finishes align with Fort Huachuca Base Standards, offering durability, sustainability and low maintenance. A cohesive color scheme transitions between the exterior and interior. The facility meets federal Guiding Principles for High Performance and Sustainable Building, targeting LEED Silver Certification.
