TNT Crust LLC, a leading manufacturer and distributor of pizza crusts based in Green Bay, acquired an existing facility in St. Charles, Missouri to move forward with an expansion strategy that included increased capacity and production capabilities.
The existing 100,000-square-foot Design-Build facility in St. Charles was originally constructed by The Korte Company in 2009 for Air Products and Chemicals, a manufacturer of industrial gases and related equipment. A little over 10 years later, The Korte Company was back on site to renovate and improve the industrial space to accommodate TNT Crust’s food production and warehousing needs.
Scott McNair, Chief Executive Officer of TNT, stated, “The new facility will be outfitted with state-of-the-art equipment and exemplifies TNT’s commitment to enhancing our production capabilities and leading the industry in quality, service, and innovation.” The St. Charles site will add more than 100,000 square feet on 12 acres, with additional room to support future growth.
The extensive renovation was delivered in just four months and included 4,000 square feet of cooler storage and another 4,800 square feet of freezer capacity. Modifications also included work to allow for three oven lines as well as the construction of new shipping and receiving docks. Improvements incorporated selective demolition for new equipment requirements including freezer space, door openings and new building systems equipment. New construction also included space for a centralized wash-down area.
Construction continued on time and on budget amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, which required especially stringent safety and hygiene measures for both construction personnel and active construction areas.
