The Korte Company was selected as the Design-Build contractor for the United States Postal Service (USPS) to construct its General Mail Facility Expansion in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
This project included a 69,900-square-foot addition to the facility as well as an upgrade to the entire HVAC system.
The biggest challenge of this project was the aggressive schedule and construction throughout the winter. In order to meet this challenge, The Korte Company provided the USPS with an aggressive design and construction schedule.
As a result of this aggressive schedule, precast was on the job site only 12 weeks after order. In addition, the structure was enclosed in just 16 weeks from receipt of the Notice to Proceed. Even with extreme winter weather, the project was completed three months ahead of schedule.
