The Korte Company partnered with the United States Postal System (USPS) to complete an interior renovation of an existing 450,000-square-foot Mail Processing Annex located in Nashville, Tennessee. The Design-Build facility marked the 47th project that The Korte Company successfully delivered for the USPS.
The Design-Build team at Korte worked closely with USPS and the developer’s contractor throughout both the design and construction phases of the initial Tilt-Up structure to coordinate a seamless design flow. This collaborative effort was integral in the project’s success, specifically during the transformation stage of the building shell to a fully functional operations center.
Conceptual plans, as well as floor and site layouts, were optimized for efficiency as part of the Design-Build process and constructed to meet or exceed specifications outlined in the proposal. Additionally, the team worked directly with the mechanization process to ensure operations could function at optimal levels.
The turnkey retrofit included the design and construction of employee and administrative space including offices, conference rooms, support spaces, a locker area and dining areas. A total of 54 dock positions, each with levelers and dock doors, were updated with vehicle restraint barriers and dock bumpers. The Design-Build team designed, furnished and installed the mechanical and electrical systems throughout the space as well as the fire suppression system.
The scope of work also included the installation of a gated security system, complete with access-controlled entry gates, lighting controls, telecommunications, as well as a state-of-the-art CCTV system.
