b'RED OAK, TX BUILDING SOMETHING BIGGER THAN OURSELVES: We designed
Knapheides storage and parking facility in Red Oak, Texas, for efficiency
and security. It included siteTHE STORY OF AMISH BARN demolition, grading
and paving. Then we installed perimeter fencing, upgraded lighting and
improved access. Now, theBUILDING IN HOLMES COUNTY, OHclean, secure and
well-organized site supports Knapheides growing regional operations. It
shows yet again that long- On June 10, 2006, a fire leveled a familys barn
in Holmes standing partnerships and smart planning drive progress. County,
Ohio. Word spread quickly throughout the community. Just a week later,
lanterns bobbed down a gravel lane as neighbors arrived to help. By 5
a.m., The farmyard was alive with saws buzzing, mallets ringing, trusses
rising in rhythm.Every task had a handoff. Older men marked and cut,
younger crews lifted and pinned, while women organized meals to feed
hundreds by mid-morning. No wasted steps, no grandstanding, just neighbors
answering the call.Multiple church districts worked side by side. They
used a crane to hoist trusses, proving that smart tools can be a part of
tradition without replacing it. One person said it best, When disaster
strikes, everybody turns up, Amish and non-Amish alike.By dusk, where
ashes recently smoldered, a new barn stood square to the horizon. We work
the same way at The Korte Company. We front-load the thinking so the
day-of is pure execution. We bring the right tools at the right time. We
rely on craftspeople who own their role and honor the handoff. And we
measure success not by how loud we worked, but by how well the project
serves the people wholl use it tomorrow. The Amish call it a barn-raising.
